Local Conditions
Common roofing challenges in Indian Trail, NC
What we get called for in Indian Trail is aging first roofs, hail bruising, wind-creased shingles, cracked pipe boots and nail pops, and gutters that cannot keep up. The town went from a farm and rail town to a commuter suburb inside a generation. Almost every roof in town dates from that growth, and they are coming due together.
Questions about your roof? Call (704) 352-1112 or get a free estimate.
- A whole town of first roofs Most Indian Trail houses went up in the growth years and got the shingle the builder specified, put on by production crews. The first sign is granules in the gutters and bald patches at the eaves. When one house on a street replaces its roof the rest are usually close behind, and a free inspection tells you where yours is.
- Hail bruising the adjuster needs to see Hail comes through Indian Trail and the rest of Union County with the summer storms and leaves soft spots in the shingle mat. You will not see them from the yard, but up close the bruises show under thumb pressure and the granules are gone around each strike. We photograph the hits on a marked test square so your insurer sees the same thing we saw on the Indian Trail roof, and we take the claim from there.
- Wind-creased shingles along the rakes Straight-line wind lifts the shingles at the rake edges and the ridge first. A shingle that has been folded back keeps a crease in the mat after it lies down again, and it leaks at that crease. On Indian Trail homes we replace the creased courses and hand-seal the tabs on either side.
- Cracked pipe boots and nail pops When an Indian Trail homeowner calls about a stain on the ceiling, a cracked pipe boot or a nail pop is usually what we find. The rubber collar on a plumbing vent splits in the Carolina sun and lets water run down the pipe into the attic. Nails that back out with the decking's seasonal movement push the shingle up and open a hole, and both are small repairs.
- Gutters that cannot keep up with a summer rain A builder gutter with a clogged downspout goes over the back in a summer downpour, and the overflow rots the fascia and soaks the foundation. In Indian Trail we replace runs that have pulled away from the fascia, and whenever we replace the roof the new drip edge goes over the gutter apron.
Most of these start small. Book the free inspection; our owner photographs the roof and tells you which one you have, and whether it is still a repair.

Matthew is the most professional owner I have encountered in a very long time. As a former owner of a business it was such a great experience working with Matthew. He is detail oriented, knowledgeable of all things roofing, product knowledge. He is a pleasure to work with. Completed the inspection, provided pictures and explanation, patched the roof and came and met with the insurance adjuster.…
Just had my roof and gutters done with Charlotte Premier Roofing. From start to finish the experience was beyond expectation. Matthew communicated with me along the way and when I had to put the project on hold he didn’t try to pressure me to do it sooner. I’ve dealt with some companies that are so pushy and untrustworthy; this is not one of them.…
Matthew and his team at Charlotte Premier Roofing did an exceptional job replacing my roof. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and completed on schedule. The workmanship is excellent, and the price was very reasonable. I truly appreciated their professionalism, clear communication, and attention to detail throughout the project.…

About the Area
All about Indian Trail, NC
Indian Trail is in the northwest corner of Union County, about 14 miles southeast of Uptown Charlotte in a straight line, not a drive time. Seven other municipalities border it, Stallings and Matthews among them.
We are based in Weddington, also in Union County. So Indian Trail is one of the closer towns we serve, and one we drive through all the time on the way to others.
The old town center
The town started as a farming community on the old trading path it is named for. The Seaboard railroad came through later and put a depot at Indian Trail Road, and the depot is still there. The first town limits were a half-mile circle around that crossing.

When we get called to an older Indian Trail house near that center, we plan for plank decking. There is probably a second shingle layer coming off too. The chimney on a house that age was usually flashed with mortar.
Newer subdivisions
Almost everything else in Indian Trail is newer. The town grew fast through the 21st century as a commuter suburb for Charlotte. Union County is among the fastest-growing counties in the country.
Subdivisions like that get roofed in batches with builder shingles, so the replacement calls come from whole streets at once. On one of those roofs we put in ice-and-water membrane in the valleys, a proper drip edge, new pipe boots and a ridge vent. A lot of the original roofs went without them.

More about roofing in Indian Trail
Indian Trail is flat-to-rolling Piedmont with very little water inside the town limits. Summer thunderstorms cross it, bringing the hail and wind behind most of our storm damage work in Union County.
Winters are mild but not storm-free. A wet, cold week is usually when a cracked boot or a lifted flashing from the summer finally shows up as a stain.
Paying for a roof
Nearly half of Indian Trail households have children at home, and a roof competes with everything else for that budget. That is part of why we offer financing on replacements.
Estimates are free, and if a repair will do we say so. The $1,000 off a roof replacement offer applies here too; ask about it when you book.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions: roofing in Indian Trail, NC
What shingles do you install on an Indian Trail roof replacement?
We install Owens Corning Duration shingles nailed on the marked nail line, with ice-and-water membrane in the valleys and around every penetration. Our owner inspects and photographs each roof in person, and the work carries a 5-year workmanship warranty. The $1,000 off a roof replacement offer applies here too; ask about it when you book.
How does a hail damage claim work in Indian Trail?
Start with a free inspection. If we find hail bruising, we mark test squares, photograph every hit and prepare a photo report.
Then we contact your insurer, coordinate the inspections and meet the adjuster on the Indian Trail roof. What gets covered is the adjuster's decision. Our job is the documentation, and one reviewer wrote that our detailed photo report ended with the insurer paying to replace the entire roof.
Will you tell me if my Indian Trail roof does not need work?
Yes. If your Indian Trail roof does not need work, we tell you that, and you keep the photos.
One reviewer asked for a general inspection after a year of bad weather, expected damage, and was told the roof was in very good shape. Another had a drainage complaint our owner found was most likely debris on the gutter guards rather than faulty gutters; we removed the debris and did not sell a repair.
What should I expect if my roof is near Indian Trail's old town center?
Indian Trail was incorporated in 1907 with its first town limits set as a half-mile circle around the old crossing of Indian Trail Road and the Seaboard Railroad. The depot is still standing. Houses that close to the center are usually the oldest in town. Plank decking instead of plywood, a second shingle layer probably already on top of the first, a chimney flashed with mortar. We plan for all three before the tear-off.
