Downspouts and fascia
Downspouts go where the water is, which is not always where the old ones happened to be. A long run of roof feeding one small downspout at the far corner overflows at the first hard rain, so we look at each slope's area and put the outlets and the downspout sizes where they can carry it.
Our crew gets dispatched around Weddington, Ballantyne and Blakeney for wind, hail and heavy rainfall, and heavy rainfall is when an undersized downspout overflows. The bottoms get extended away from the foundation, since a gutter that dumps at the wall moves the water problem into the crawlspace.
Where the fascia behind the old gutter has rotted we tell you before the new gutter goes on, because a hanger in soft wood will not hold, same rule as decking under shingles. The Weddington job pictured on this page is seamless gutters going onto a brick home.
Gutter cleaning, repairs and guards
Gutter cleaning and gutter repair are things we do, though they are a small part of the business and we will say so. A loose hanger, a section pulling off the fascia, a downspout that has come apart, a leaking corner, that kind of thing gets repaired on a visit. One reviewer had gutter repairs done and wrote about how prompt the communication was.
If you have gutter guards we clear them and tell you whether the guards are the problem. For the reviewer with a drainage issue, our owner found it was most likely debris on the guards rather than faulty gutters, so no repair or replacement was sold.
Gutters replaced on their own
When gutters get replaced on their own, with no roof, the estimate covers taking the old system down and any fascia repair. It also covers the seamless runs with the corners and outlets, downspouts and extensions, and a color matched to the trim. Our owner comes out and measures each run, checks the fascia and the drip edge, and writes the estimate free of charge.
The free photo inspection of the roof comes with it, because an overflowing gutter is sometimes a roof problem, a valley dumping into one spot or a drip edge that was never installed. If the roof turns out to be the cause you hear that first; see Roof Repair in Charlotte.
