Our story: a Weddington roofing company serving Charlotte

We are Charlotte Premier Roofing, and our owner is a second-generation roofer who grew up in the roofing industry. He was around the trade long before he was running his own jobs, and it shows in how he reads a roof. He will tell you whether what you have is hail bruising or blistering, a nail pop or a lifted tab, step flashing that needs replacing or a counterflashing that only needs resealing, and show you the photo that backs it up. Reviewers describe our owner as detail oriented and knowledgeable about all things roofing. One wrote that he took the time to explain good shingles against worn-out ones with pictures, and one homeowner who had been left with a bad taste by other roofers wrote that it was the expertise and thorough answers that gave them confidence. For where we sit against the rest of the market, we publish a dated list of the best roofers in Charlotte, our own placing included. We also carry the Nextdoor Neighborhood Fave 2025 badge.

We are based in Weddington, in Union County, and work within about 25 miles of it. That takes in south Charlotte, Ballantyne and SouthPark, Pineville, Matthews and Mint Hill, Waxhaw, Marvin and Wesley Chapel, Indian Trail, Stallings and Monroe, and north to Huntersville, Cornelius, Concord, Harrisburg, Midland and Locust. All North Carolina. We do not work across the state line into South Carolina and will say so on the phone. The roofs across that radius tend to have a lot in common: architectural shingle over plywood decking, valleys that fill with leaves off mature oaks and pines, pipe boots that crack in the sun, and the same spring and summer storm cells that put hail on one street and miss the next. Our own Google posts describe our crew being dispatched through Weddington, Ballantyne and Blakeney to inspect, repair and replace roofs after wind, hail and heavy rain.

More about our story

The way we work is owner-direct. Our owner answers the call, comes out for the inspection, writes the estimate, meets the adjuster if there is a claim, schedules the crew and walks the finished roof with you. We are a smaller local company where you work directly with the owner, who is not going to mark up the price of your roof to cover overhead costs. There is no sales rep in between and no separate project manager, he schedules the crew himself. Reviewers notice, they write about calls returned, questions answered, a project put on hold with no pressure, a schedule moved up to get to a leak sooner, and one put it as honest and no BS, kept his word through every stage. One reviewer with a leak wrote that our owner had plenty of pictures of past fixes of the same problem, another had the roof fixed and an emergency tarp put up late at night, a third had the repair-and-seal items from a home inspection handled and the Christmas lights hung, and one homeowner who reached out to six roofers picked us.

Every job starts with a photo inspection, even the ones that end with nothing needing doing. Our owner walks the roof and checks the attic, and on a steep or tall roof he pulls a drone from the truck and flies it. You see the pictures first, the hail hits, lifted shingles, rusted nail heads, a split pipe boot, flashing that has pulled away. When the roof is fine, that is the report you get. One reviewer asked for a general inspection after a year of bad weather, expected damage, and was told the roof was in very good shape, another was shown pictures of good shingles against worn-out ones and told the roof was fine, and a third had a drainage problem our owner found was most likely debris on the gutter guards, which he removed instead of selling a repair or replacement. Repairs get the same treatment. Most of the shingle leaks that come through the phone trace back to one detail, a pipe boot split by the sun, step flashing at a chimney or a wall that has pulled loose, a nail pop worked up through the shingle, a valley that never had ice-and-water under it, though nobody can tell you which one from the driveway. We photograph the detail, fix it, photograph it again. One reviewer with a leak wrote that our owner had plenty of pictures showing how he had solved the same situation before. If a boot is the problem, the estimate is for a boot. When there is storm or hail damage the same photos become the report that goes to the insurance company, and we coordinate the adjuster inspection. Several homeowners have had the entire roof replaced through the claim, and more than one did not know the storm damage was there until the inspection found it.

On replacements the crew installs Owens Corning Duration architectural shingles, the line our owner names on his own job videos and in our Google posts. The way the crew does a replacement is a tear-off to the decking, soft sheets replaced, new underlayment with ice-and-water at the valleys, new drip edge, new pipe boots, and flashing rebuilt at every chimney and wall. We help homeowners choose a shingle color that works with the brick or siding, one reviewer wrote that our owner guided them to a color that looks perfect on the home, and another mentions good choices of shingles to pick from. Gutters usually come into the same conversation because the drip edge and the gutter line get set together, and several homeowners had the gutters replaced with the roof. Attic venting comes up too, one reviewer had venting repairs done with the shingle replacement, and a roof that cannot breathe is generally hard on the shingles from underneath. The job ends with a sweep of the yard for nails and a walkthrough of the finished roof. One reviewer wrote that they had worried about nails in the yard and did not find one. The workmanship is covered by a 5-year written warranty and the shingles carry the manufacturer's material warranty on top. Homeowners have rated us 5.0 on Google, and we carry the Nextdoor Neighborhood Fave 2025 badge.

How We Work

The Charlotte Premier Roofing journey

Same person on every job, so the process does not change. You call or send the form, our owner comes out and photographs the roof and the attic, and you get a written estimate before anything is scheduled, whether that turns out to be a repair or a replacement, and sometimes the answer is that nothing needs doing. Then our crew does the work, sweeps the yard for nails, and our owner walks the finished roof with you and hands over the warranty.

  1. Step : 01

    Call or send the form

Tell us what you are seeing. A stain on the ceiling, shingles in the yard after a storm, a hail claim you are not sure about, a roof that is just old. We set a time for our owner to come out.

  2. Step : 02

    Photo inspection with the owner

Our owner walks the roof, checks the attic and photographs what turns up. On a steep pitch or a tall house the drone comes out of the truck, and you see the pictures during the inspection.

  3. Step : 03

    Solutions and a written estimate

Then the read, which might be a repair or a replacement, and sometimes nothing needs doing. If it is storm or hail damage the photo report goes to your insurer. Written estimate before any work gets scheduled.

  4. Step : 04

The work, the nail sweep, the walkthrough

Our crew does the job and sweeps the yard for nails afterward. Our owner walks the finished roof with you and hands over the 5-year workmanship warranty at that walkthrough.

Matthew is the most professional owner I have encountered in a very long time. As a former owner of a business it was such a great experience working with Matthew. He is detail oriented, knowledgeable of all things roofing, product knowledge. He is a pleasure to work with. Completed the inspection, provided pictures and explanation, patched the roof and came and met with the insurance adjuster.…

Just had my roof and gutters done with Charlotte Premier Roofing. From start to finish the experience was beyond expectation. Matthew communicated with me along the way and when I had to put the project on hold he didn’t try to pressure me to do it sooner. I’ve dealt with some companies that are so pushy and untrustworthy; this is not one of them.…
